Day Dreams Watercolor/Ink Sketch

For the Creative Everyday challenge on dreams, I dug out an old sketchbook for this ink/watercolor drawing of a cat dreaming about a life outside the house. I titled the sketch "Life Appears Greener on the Other Side". My husband and I owned a cat before we had children and this cat would sit on the window ledge and dream of being on the other side of the window. She would dream and long to be outside. She would be let out, only to want back in a few minutes later to sit at the window again and dream.

Sometimes we humans are like the cat, thinking life would be better if only... We dream about what it would be like to be rich, famous, athletic, popular, beautiful...But like the cat that experiences the outside world, we eventually want back inside to dream again. It's because the things of this world do not satisfy the soul that longs for acceptance and value. Only God can fill the void of those who are searching for truth.

Psalm 103:4-6

4 God redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,

5 He satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

6 The LORD works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.

Psalm 126:1-3

1 When the LORD brought back the captives to Zion,
we were like men who dreamed.

2 Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
"The LORD has done great things for them."

3 The LORD has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy.
