I've been thinking a lot about the tree of life mentioned in the Bible:
And the LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
It was interesting to find the tree of life at the beginning in Genesis and at the very end in Revelation. But I was reminded of the tree of life in the middle - the cross where Jesus Christ gave up His life for us that we may have eternal life. The cross...the tree of life. This is the image that came to me as I thought about the connection of the trees of life. This is the original 2 1/2" x 1 1/4" watercolor painting.
I will be using this image in some jewelry pieces soon. I'm still working on the particulars and learning some new jewelry techniques.
