The Sacrifice

Here is another earring set from "The Gift" jewelry line. These are garnet drops with sterling silver. The garnet drops represent Christ's blood, the sacrifice our Lord made on our behalf. "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:5 NIV.

And I John 2:2, "He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world." NLT

Garnet is a common silicate mineral that is a relatively sturdy gemstone. Garnets have been found in jewelry of the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. It's also the birthstone for January. The name "garnet" comes from the Latin granatus ("grain"), possibly a reference to the Punica granatum ("pomegranate"), a plant with red seeds similar in shape, size, and color to some garnet crystals.

These earrings will be for sale at a local show on November 8th.
